The Takeda is a custom recolor variant of the Kurosawa Sword Kai. It is rumored to move at thrice the speed. Nothing else is known about the unit.
This was actually built as a display piece over at my ToyCon PH 2019 booth as a special color variant of the Kurosawa Sword Kai. As with most of Quiccs’ pieces, I just had to make a red version with gold accents and a more pronounced Samurai vibe to it.
Build wise, there’s only very small differences with the original OG black Kurosawa.
I was also fortunate enough to have Quiccs sign this on the shoulder. Currently keeping this as replacement for the black OG that I sold and as a permanent piece in my Marzan faction collection.
Picture here is of the GoK in a special red colorway edition from DevilToys.
Not a lot of WIP for this as it was built in a day while recreating the OG black Kurosawa. Back when I made it, I didn’t have access to the new pearl gold Ninjago double curved blade minifig weapon (seen here as dark silver) so I temporarily used a chrome gold kabuto ornament from the LEGO 90’s samurai sets.
While that was actually a nice fit for the whole build, I was very OC with the two crowbars side horns not being chrome so I eventually swapped it out when I got the pearl gold weapon.
This will probably be the last recolor / version I do of the Kurosawa. The challenge would be how I’ll make my next samurai-themed reFrame build as I need to make it drastically different from this. ;P
I brought the Takeda on day 3 of ToyCon PH so only a few event goers got to see it. 😉
The reFrame System is a modular brick skeleton aimed to help both new and veternan brick mech builders create their own designs in a consistent size with modular capabilities. It was originally designed to be a basis for all my mechs in the Mech Wars universe. Having gone through a number of upgrades, the V3 reFrame can now house a minifigure pilot in the chest without sacrificing aesthetic or articulation.
