One of ArmaTech’s newest designs, the ARMT-M01A Aras is a high specification machine built for highly tactical operations that require a lot of maneuverability and combat efficiency.
Build notes:
This is the very first reFrame that is equipped with the new reFrame v2.0 as its base which features a LEGO minifig pilot in the backpack and double-jointed elbows. It’s also using my new favorite foot design taken from the H’Da (heck yeah feet with heels!).
The entire build took around 12 hours (roughly 2 days of building on and off). The assault rifle was a design I’ve been wanting to do for a while and it is modeled after the Famas assault rifle.
WIP Process:
As always, started this build by designing the head. One thing I really wanted on this build was to use a minifig visor but not fully enclosed like the one in the reFX01 – A/B Type / reFX01 Type D. Options I had for the top of the eye included using a triangle road sign clipped to a bar but looked really flat so I scrapped that.
I actually forgot to document the body assembly being made but kept it fairly simply and just echoed the v-shape look of the head using the same pieces (white skis + minifig revolver pistols to get that angle). This build also uses the new body reFrame body assembly that removes the abdominal joint in exchange for a cockpit that can fit a minifig sitting inside the backpack. As for the arms, I really wanted it to have increased articulation by introducing a double-jointed elbow that would allow the arms to bend around the chest area.
Originally, I had also intended the shoulders to have a tall and thin design orientation but eventually went with a broader and rounder look. I might revisit the original shoulder design with an upgrade to this unit later on (with increased mobility as the upgrade idea).
Overall was pretty happy with the new elbows so I’ll be using these from now on for future builds.
